Working as an indentured apprentice for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning contractor, apprentices complete work experience in the following areas:
- Air balance, combustion controls, start-up and certification
of comfort systems
- Installation (heating and cooling systems, maintenance, and
equipment connections.

Qualifications for Apprenticeship
- Education: High school graduate or GED® (submit copy)
- Math: One year of high school Algebra, with a grade of C or better (high school Algebra or Algebra are available through the NWTC Skills Center)
- Age: 18 or high school graduate at 17, no maximum
- Test: GATB (General Aptitude Test Battery) taken at local Job Service Office
- License: Valid driver's license (submit copy)
- Other: Birth Certificate (submit copy)
Length of Contract
- 4 years of not less than 8,000 hours
- On-the-job training (OJT) - 7,500 hours with a licensed plumber
as per Exhibit "A"
- Paid-Related Instruction (Day School) - 576 hours and
successful completion of curriculum
- Unpaid-Related Instruction (Night School) - First Aid, CPR, OSHA
