(Niagara) Area residents are invited to an open house at the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College North Regional Learning Center, 705 Washington Avenue, Niagara, on Wednesday, January 20, from 4 to 6 p.m.
The NWTC open house is being held to celebrate five years at the Niagara location. This free event is designed to provide area adults and high school students with the information they need to meet their educational goals.
“We offer college level courses, free GED* classes, and personal enrichment courses,” said Sally Miller-DeCremer, regional coordinator. “The center is also co-located with the Wisconsin Job Center; together we bring services to dislocated workers to help make the training connection.”
This event will provide an excellent opportunity for prospective students to:
- Explore careers and academic programs
- Meet with academic advisors
- Discuss financial aid
- Become familiar with technology used in our online and video conference classrooms
- Obtain information on starting a business
In addition, NWTC’s Administrative Assistant program students will be offering various presentations on the different technology used in their online and video conference course delivery.
Miller-DeCremer encourages anyone who wants to make some positive changes and explore some new opportunities in the new year to attend.
“With the state of our economy, education plays a vital role for staying competitive in the job market,” Miller-DeCremer said. “We are seeing returning adult students who were never exposed to technology in their previous jobs – helping them overcome that hurdle has been very rewarding. We also offer beginning computer classes for all ages. Our senior computer classes are very popular and there is a reduced rate for seniors who are 62 and older. You’re never too old to learn!”
Free food and refreshments will be available during the event. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call the NWTC North Regional Learning Center-Niagara, toll-free, 866-528-5883.
