Some students at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College are “going for the green” to raise money for student scholarships while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

As part of their event marketing class, students in the Marketing and the Hotel and Restaurant Management programs are holding the 5th Annual NWTC Scholarship Golf Scramble on Friday, May 22, 2009, at The Woods Golf Club, 530 Erie Road, Green Bay. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m.; tee off time is 11:00 a.m.

This year’s theme is “Go for the Green.” Local businesses will be showcased at the event – many with a green theme. Proceeds from the event will go toward a scholarship program for NWTC students in business-related programs.

“We are so excited to offer this event with a ‘going green’ theme for the first time,” said Nicole Grieger, NWTC Marketing student. “I am learning so much by helping to organize this event. The experience has really showed me the behind-the-scenes efforts it takes to market and host an event.  I know I will be taking away a lot from this experience.”

Registration deadline for the four-person scramble is May 15. The entry fee is $85 per golfer – this includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, gift bag, pig roast, and a chance to win prizes during the hole-in-one, straightest drive, longest drive, and other special contests. To register, contact Nicole Grieger at nicole.grieger@mymail.nwtc.edu or (920) 680-8441.

Hole sponsorships and a variety of other sponsorship opportunities are available for area businesses. For more information, contact Megan Reed at megan.reed@mymail.nwtc.edu or (920) 619-9925 by May 7.
