10-614-235 CNC MACH/2D PROGRAM-INTRODUCTION TO ...introduction to CNC machining and programming using computer drawing software such as AutoCAD and SurfCAM, to produce three dimensional models from 2D geometry with an emphasis on machining materials used in the prototype & design industry. (Prerequisites: 10-606-116, CAD-Intro; 10-614-152, Prototyping-Introduction to, 10-420-151 Prototype Machine Tool)

What will I learn?

  1. Examine basic CNC machining principles.
  2. Evaluate the components of the machine center control
  3. Demonstrate machining center manual machine controls and movement
  4. Utilize CAM software user interface.
  5. Create 2 dimensional geometry using computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software
  6. Edit existing geometry.
  7. Create CNC Toolpaths using Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software.
  8. Edit 2 axis tool paths.
  9. Develop job plans
  10. Discuss machining center tools and operations
  11. Examine machining center coordinate grid system
  12. Select the appropriate machine holding device for the machining process.
  13. Analyze how to import CAD (DXF, STL, and DWG) files into CAM Software.
