10-614-138 CNC MACHINING-ADVANCED ...create three-dimensional prototypes on the CNC machining center using SolidWorks and SurfCAM software with a focus on 3 axis surface machining and multiple part setups and an emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking. (Prerequisites: 10-614-235, CNC Mach/2D Prog-Intro; 10-614-238, Intro to SolidWorks Modeling)

What will I learn?

  1. Import 2D and 3D CAD models into a CAM software
  2. Produce 3 axis milling cycles
  3. Modify 3 axis milling cycles
  4. Execute 3 axis milling cycles.
  5. Create 3D parts using multiple setups on the CNC machining center
  6. Utilize multiple workpiece holding devices
  7. Select required tooling for machining processes.
  8. Develop a job plan for projects.
  9. Discuss machining various materials used in the prototyping industry
  10. Create a prototype fabricated with multiple 2D or 3D machined parts
