10-412-154 DIESEL HEAVY DUTY ELECTRICAL 1 ...focuses on the fundamentals of electricity, batteries starting circuits, charging circuits, and electrical circuits found on heavy duty equipment. Covers testing and troubleshooting procedures for various systems presently used in the industry, as well as how to perform electrical repairs and wiring harness repair. (Pre-requisite: 10-412-153, Intro to Electrical Systems)

What will I learn?

  1. Build an OEM harness for a commercial vehicle engine
  2. Perform electrical measurements using a digital multimeter.
  3. Solve basic electrical faults on comercial motor vehicle electrical systems
  4. Explain explain the function of electrical components.
  5. Characterize electric circuits and circuit protection
  6. Explain the function of a battery.
  7. Test the battery for proper function,
  8. Perform service on commercial vehicle batteries
  9. Define what a charging system is
  10. Test charging systems
  11. Explain the operation of a starting system.
  12. Test the starting system and its components for proper function.
