Class Notes
You must be accepted in the Early Childhood Associate Degree Program in order to take a practicum course. In the practicum courses, you will be doing "student teaching" in a school or child care center in the community where you reside. State regulations and NWTC student insurance coverage requires certain forms be on file before you begin your practicum placement. These forms are: (1)Child Care Health Report with TB test results (must be done within 3 months of your first practicum with NWTC); (2)Caregiver Background Check done through NWTC (background checks done through your employer or other agency cannot be accepted); (3)Current CPR certification (must be renewed every two years); (4)Functional Abilities Checklist. You will be emailed the forms and instructions upon your acceptance into the Early Childhood Associate Degree Program. When you receive the forms, complete them and return them to your instructor. They are also available on the Early Childhood Program Details page of our website: https://www.nwtc.edu/programs/fields-of-interest/human-services-and-education/program-details/. Click on Early Childhood Forms. You may want to schedule your doctor appointment in advance. Failure to have these forms on file will cause a delay in beginning your practicum hours.
