Course Description

10-660-112 ELECTRONICS 3: OP-AMPS-BASIC ...introduction to the circuit characteristics of integrated operational amplifiers. The various connections, inverting, non-inverting and comparator will be studied as well as specialized applications such as summers and filters. (Pre-requisite: 10-660-111, Electronics 2: Transistor-Basic)

  1. Demonstrate operational amplifier characteristics through simulation
  2. Calculate op-amp gain in the inverting and non-inverting modes
  3. Analyze the op-amp for frequency response based on spec sheet characteristics
  4. Examine various application circuits such as comparators, summers and instrumentation amplifiers
  5. Construct op amp circuits following a diagram

Class Notes

  • IMPORTANT: Each class consists of lecture delivered in person plus additional time in the Tech Hall lab, Room ET129 or the Mech Hall lab, Room ET120 during the posted open lab times. Plan approximately 30 hours to complete both portions of this class.

  • This course requires purchase of a parts kit in ET129.

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Tech Hall Lab, Room ET129, is open Mon-Thurs 8am-8pm; Fridays 8am-3pm; Saturdays 8am-1pm. The Lab will observe all College closure holidays and breaks.
