47-442-499 INTRO TO MARINE WELDING ...participants will learn Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Oxy Fuel Operation(s), Carbon Arc Cutting (CAC), Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC), blueprint reading, trades math, and marine and shipyard terminology.

What will I learn?

  1. Demonstrate welding in the flat position (1G).
  2. Identify types of base metal.
  3. Demonstrate safety using welding processes.
  4. Identify weld joint anatomy.
  5. Demonstrate safety using power and hand tools.
  6. Select proper FCAW equipment and supplies.
  7. Demonstrate welding in the horizontal position (2G).
  8. Demonstrate welding in the vertical position (3G).
  9. Demonstrate welding in the overhead position (4G).
  10. Interpret welding symbols and acronyms.
  11. Interpret basic marine blueprints.
  12. Identify shipbuilding terminology.
  13. Demonstrate manual oxy-propane gas cutting.
  14. Demonstrate machine oxy-propane gas cutting.
  15. Demonstrate air carbon arc cutting.
  16. Demonstrate plasma arc cutting.
