- Explore the hierarchy of the medical imaging profession as to its modalities, professional organizations, role in medicine, history, etc.
- Summarize the various x-ray photon interactions as they relate to biomedical engineering
- Examine the operation of x-ray system components including the x-ray tube, generator, fluoroscopy, exposure control, image receptor and operator interface
- Predict the impact upon image quality with various changes in radiation prime factors and exposure conditions
- Explain the nature of electromagnetic radiation and its characteristics related to radiosensitivity and image production
- Compare and contrast the process of digital image production using various digital technologies including fluoroscopy and computed radiography
- Evaluate medical image quality using established quality control measurements
