10-090-145 ORGANIC FIELD CROPS... Evaluate organic practices for fertilizing, planting, weed and pest control in corn, soybeans and small grains. Create an organic transition plan, qualify for certification. Evaluate yields, markets, rotations, and cover crops.

Class Notes

  • 1) May 2: 3:30 - 4:30 pm: Mandatory hour-long, virtual session, to get an overview of topics the courses cover and to understand the course structure in Canvas (learning platform). A plan to work through the content modules will be set up. If you cannot attend this virtual session, please contact your instructor. If the first assignment is not completed, you will be considered a no-show and will be dropped from the class. 2) May through August: Complete coursework as described in Canvas. 3) In-person lab August 13, Red Door Farm to complete hands-on activities. Full details will be included in the class materials. Session starts at 10 am and ends at 3:30 pm. Lunch is included.
