Course Description

10-605-158 POWER ELECTRONICS 2: DRIVES ...This course provide the opportunity for the student to develop the knowledge, skills, process and understanding of the power and control circuitry of AC drives and application and troubleshooting of these industrial AC drives (VFD's) to AC induction motors. This course concentrates on the ABB ACS355 Variable Speed Drive. (Prerequisite: 10-605-157, Power Electronics 1)

  2. Apply AC Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to the operation of the 3-Phase Induction motor.

  4. Program and Troubleshoot 3- Phase AC Variable Speed Drives.

Class Notes

  • IMPORTANT: Each class consists of lecture delivered in person plus additional time in the Tech Hall lab, Room ET129 or the Mech Hall lab, Room ET120 during the posted open lab times. Plan approximately 30 hours to complete both portions of this class.

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Tech Hall Lab, Room ET129, is open Mon-Thurs 8am-8pm; Fridays 8am-3pm; Saturdays 8am-1pm. The Lab will observe all College closure holidays and breaks.
