Course Description

47-504-434 RIFLE SAFETY/OPERATOR LEVEL 1...basic knowledge and skills of rifle operation, cleaning, maintenance, storage and safe handling, shooting fundamentals and relative state statutes.

What will I learn?

  1. Describe requirements in state statutes regarding storage, handling and self-defense.
  2. Demonstrate Shooting Fundamentals and Safe firearm handling skills of the rifle throughout all segments of training.
  3. Fire the rifle accurately within its effective range with emphasis on short to medium distances.

Class Notes

  • Students must be 18 to take the class. Students must provide 500 rounds of new factory full metal jacket, brass casing ammo in the correct caliber. NWTC will provide the use of a .223 caliber AR-15; students may bring their own semi-automatic weapon in either .223 or .308 caliber AR-15. Upon enrollment, a background check will be performed on each student. Any person prohibited to carry a firearm by law will not be admitted to this class.
