Course Description

10-526-211 SUPERFICIAL SONOGRAPHY ...investigates superficial structure imaging. Includes anatomy, pathophysiology, and sonographic evaluation. Prepared learner to perform ultrasounds of the thyroid, breast, male reproductive system, musculoskeletal system, and GI tract. (Prerequisites: Accepted into the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program; Corequisites: 10-526-232, Fundamentals of Scanning)

What will I learn?

  1. Differentiate between normal and pathologic conditions of superficial structures
  2. Perform a thyroid and neck ultrasound
  3. Perform a breast ultrasound
  4. Explore non-vascular extremity imaging
  5. Describe the sonographic evaluation of the male reproductive system
  6. Perform an ultrasound of the scrotum
  7. Explore the GI tract
  8. Explore invasive procedures related to superficial structures
  9. Explore neonatal sonographic exams (spine, hips, and head)
