10-468-103 UTILITY SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE ...learn utility systems testing methods and hands-on experience with the tools necessary to provide preventive and predictive maintenance services for electrical distribution equipment. Utilize standard utility testing tools, non-destructive testing tools and predictive failure analysis methods. (Prerequisite: 10-468-101, Utility Power Systems Coordination)

What will I learn?

  1. Set up electro-mechanical protective relays used in power distribution systems.
  2. Set up microprocessor protective relays used in power distribution systems.
  3. Conduct protective relay test procedures.
  4. Conduct breaker test procedures.
  5. Perform transformer maintenance testing.
  6. Perform capacitor testing.
  7. Test overvoltage protection (surge limiting) devices.
  8. Perform cable testing.
  9. Test battery power systems.
  10. Perform a substation inspection.
  11. Investigate non-destructive predictive maintenance procedures.
