College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Take a test to earn credit for what you already know
The CLEP exam lets you earn college credit for things you've learned outside the classroom - work experience, military service, or even independent study. This can save you a ton of time and money on your college degree! CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the United States, with more than 30 exams.

Taking the CLEP test is easy! Here's how:
- Choose your test location: Contact your preferred NWTC campus (Green Bay, Marinette, or Sturgeon Bay) to schedule your exam date and time.
- Register online: Visit the College Board website to purchase your CLEP exam and download your voucher. Use NWTC's School Code:
- Green Bay: 04190
- Marinette: 8839
- Sturgeon Bay: 8837
- Bring what you need: On test day, bring a valid ID, your CLEP voucher, and (if you're not a currently enrolled NWTC student) the proctor fee.
Where Can I Take the Exam?
How Much will the Test Cost?
There are two fees to consider:
- The College Board Exam Fee: You'll pay this fee online when you register for your CLEP exam on the College Board's website. The exact amount changes, so check their site for the latest price.
- The NWTC Test Center Fee: This covers proctoring (or administering) the test at our centers. It's free for currently enrolled NWTC students, but everyone else pays a $30 proctoring fee. You'll pay this fee on the day of your test.
What if I Need Accommodations?
NWTC wants everyone to succeed on the CLEP exam! The College Board offers special testing arrangements for students with disabilities. If you think you might need one, like extended time or a reader, just let the NWTC assessment center know when you schedule your test. Don't forget to bring any paperwork that proves you qualify for these accommodations on your test day.
