Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) is offering an exciting new funding opportunity for all students that have been financially impacted by COVID-19. For the next year, individuals experiencing financial hardship and may have put their college dreams on hold or are in jeopardy of dropping out are eligible for session-long stipends for childcare. The funding ranges from $1,500 - $2,000 based on session credit load and can be awarded multiple times.
This funding will remove a significant financial barrier to higher education. According to recent reports, childcare in the U.S. has increased by over 40% since the start of the pandemic, and stipends will help alleviate some of the financial burden caused by these high costs. NWTC believes everyone has worth and has the skills necessary to succeed, and the College wants to ensure that your children are taken care of while you advance your career or pursue your passions.
To qualify for funding, students must have a high school diploma or HSED/GED, be admitted to NWTC, enroll in a degree or diploma program, and indicate how COVID-19 has impacted you. Stipends are made possible through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) from the U.S. Department of Education and are only available through the end of the grant period (June of 2023). Do not delay your dreams! To learn more or apply for childcare assistance, visit our Childcare Funding webpage.
What if I need childcare assistance beyond June of 2023 or do not meet the eligibility criteria for the HEERF funding?
Childcare funding and other resources are available to help you focus on learning. The HEERF stipends are a great resource, but NWTC also offers additional forms of childcare and emergency funding to ensure you succeed.
