CDL Training at NWTC
Get the necessary skills to earn your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) with NWTC's online theory course and behind-the-wheel training.
Flexible Learning Schedules
Take your career to the next level, without rearranging your already busy life. NWTC CDL training is offered in half-day sessions generally scheduled Monday – Thursday. We currently offer a maximum student-to-instructor ratio of 2:1, so your learning is tailored to your needs.
Note: Before behind-the-wheel training begins, NWTC requires students to have the following items completed.
- Federal Medical ID Card – complete with healthcare provider
- Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) – complete with DMV
- DOT Drug Screen – complete with healthcare provider

CDL Theory Course

16 Hours - Online, Self-paced.
Up to 90 days to complete the course.
Class A Manual Range & Road
$5,394 (First exam included in Class A training fee.)
- 40 hrs Behind the Wheel
- 40 hrs Observation
- 2 students : 1 instructor
Complete in as little as 4 weeks.
Class A Automatic Range & Road
$4,474 (First exam included in Class A training fee.)
- 30 hrs Behind the Wheel
- 30 hrs Observation
- 2 students : 1 instructor
Complete in as little as 3 weeks.
Class B Automatic Range & Road
$3,264 (First exam included in Class B training fee.)
- 20 hrs Behind the Wheel
- 20 hrs Observation
- 2 students : 1 instructor
Complete in as little as 2 weeks.
CDL Exam/Test Fees
NWTC is a certified Third Party Test site. We can connect you with an approved state examiner and schedule the CDL tests.
- Full skills test (Vehicle Inspection, Basic Control Skills and Road Test) when successfully completed at one time = $150
- Pre-trip Vehicle Inspection only/retake = $50
- Basic Control Skills only/retake = $50
- Road Test only/retake = $50
- Abbreviated School Bus Skills Test = $50
- Lift Airbrake restriction (Vehicle Inspection required) = $50
- Lift Manual Transmission restriction (Road Test required) = $50
- Lift Tractor Trailer restriction (Vehicle Inspection, Basic Control Skills and Road Test required) = $150
