Join us as we officially open the REDress Project exhibition Monday, October 30th at 11:00 AM in the Commons on our Green Bay campus. There will be a FREE Lunch for students who attend starting at 11:30am.
Event Details:
The REDress Project is an art installation by artist Jaime Black (Metis). This installation of empty red dresses centers on the issue of missing or murdered indigenous women. Black hopes to draw attention to the gendered and racialized nature of violent crimes against Native women and to evoke a presence through the marking of absence.
Native American Art Market
You are invited to participate as we honor, inform and celebrate the rich history and culture of the Indigenous people of this area and throughout the U.S. with our Native American Art Market featuring Native American artist from the Green Bay area.
Nish Native American Dance Group
NWTC welcomes the Nish Native American Dance Group. Nish is a slang term for Anishinabe, which means “the people” and is made up of members of several tribes with unique dress and dance styles, accompanied by traditional singers. They have performed at universities, museums, and community and sporting events – in the spirit of sharing their culture, with the goal of promoting awareness. Nish will perform during the opening ceremony and art market.
