Antibiotic resistance is a global health threat.

In this special guest presentation, Dr. Laural Legenza, director of Global Health at the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy, will share how she and her colleagues are applying geographic mapping and data visualization methods to provide insights into antimicrobial resistance with the “One Health” approach.

One Health recognizes that the health of people is connected to the health of animals and our shared environment.

In addition, Dr. Legenza, who is leading research in Wisconsin and South Africa, will present:

  • How antibiotic resistance varies at neighborhood levels in Wisconsin and across regions.
  • Similarities and differences in antibiotic resistance among host species, including humans, canines, and bovines.
  • Her unique path from central Wisconsin to a global health research career.
