NWTC welcomes Mohammed Bey as its first Chief Officer for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. He will help NWTC initiate, sustain and evaluate efforts to close achievement gaps, bring more students of color into high-wage careers and recruit more diverse talent to faculty and staff.
“I’ve been at the college a while and I understand what some of the opportunities and challenges are,” he said. “We have a good group of individuals around the table leading the college, and the work is not easy. We still have achievement gaps to close and some significant effort ahead of us, and it’s going to take all of us.”
Bey has been working in the college’s Talent and Culture Department as director of diversity and inclusion since 2014. Before joining NWTC, Bey had been director for multicultural education at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He has a bachelor’s degree in communication and a master’s in organizational leadership from Marian University, Fond du Lac, and is pursuing a doctoral degree.
