NWTC partners with the 29th annual MLK Celebration: Bridging Cultures, Celebrating Differences event, a powerful commemoration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Taken place on Saturday, January 13, the event was initially planned to be hosted on NWTC’s campus but was adjusted to virtual due to inclement weather.
Organized through the Brown County MLK Committee, this annual MLK Celebration has become a significant tradition in our community, bringing people together to honor Dr. King's vision of equality, justice, and unity.
“The theme of this year’s celebration – Bridging Cultures, Celebrating Differences – offers us the opportunity to reflect on our own lives. Are we learning about new cultures? Are we looking for ways to embrace and truly celebrate diversity? All of us play a role in living this theme, and we hope this year’s celebration drives inspiration for living Dr. King’s dream at home, at work, at school, and in our communities,” said Rhonda Chandler, committee member and co-emcee of 2024 MLK Celebration.
Over 100 community members tuned in virtually to participate in this celebratory program that included inspiring speeches, engaging performances, and opportunities for reflection on the progress we've made and the work that still lies ahead. Examples of key event highlights include:
