What will I explore?
Students will travel to Aberdeen, Scotland for a Business Creativity learning experience at Robert Gordon University. Students will explore idea generation, opportunity evaluation, innovation techniques, group dynamics and leadership, entrepreneurial behavior, and the role of market research in management decision-making.
With rolling hills, open farmland and towering mountains in the west and sweeping beaches, coastal cliffs and panoramic skies in the east; Aberdeen is a beautiful and vibrant city. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of time for castles, shopping, art galleries, and more!
What will I learn?
The Aberdeen experience will enable learners to understand the new product/service development process in a European context, focusing on the idea generation and idea screening stages. In addition to the need for an innovative and creative approach, learners will need to combine these skills with a formal market research process, using a range of techniques to determine viability and the full potential for commercialization of their idea.
Students are expected to be able to:
- Apply creative thinking skills and the use of creative techniques to explore extended problem solving.
- Evaluate and research an entrepreneurial idea.
- Determine and analyze opportunities encountered by new enterprise starts within the European environment.
- Critically appraise the nature of the entrepreneurial personality in the context of relevant academic models and theories.
- Examine the impact of intercultural competencies on team work in a European context.
The study abroad experience aligns with NWTC Employability Skills; in particular, "value individual differences and abilities", and "demonstrate community and global accountability".
