This course is offered concurrently with content course 10-103-111 Micro: Windows/Computer Basics and provides embedded College 101 instruction for the development and application of essential skills (reading, vocabulary, written communication, problem solving, college success, and career readiness) associated with supporting content course delivery through Career Pathways Bridge.

What will I learn?

  1. Assess current reading level in alphabetics (as needed), fluency (as needed), vocabulary, and comprehension.
  2. Explore the components of expository text structure as found in targeted college textbook/s.
  3. Apply reading strategies before, during, and after reading sessions.
  4. Acquire contextualized vocabulary.
  5. Develop targeted study skills which support expository reading tasks.
  6. Engage in academic behaviors that support academic success.
  7. Exhibit cultural know-how to adhere to unwritten institutional norms.
  8. Balance your multiple life roles to make college success a priority.
