Course Description

42-504-402 CIVILIAN FIREARMS ACADEMY ...this 48-hour course is designed to cover the three levels of safe civilian firearms handling in one course. During the first 16 hours, learners will develop safe weapon-handling skills. The second 16 hours expands on what was learned in the first 16 hours to include: moving to cover safely, engaging targets from cover, flashlight techniques and use of interactive video simulator. The last 16 hours is enhanced through the latest technology of the Force on Force non- lethal marking cartridges. Learners will develop real-life skills in practical scenarios in the realistic environment of the NWTC Tactical House. Participation in this course satisfies the state training requirements to obtain a Carry Conceal Weapons permit.

What will I learn?

  1. Select safe storage of the firearm and ammunition
  2. Practice safe loading, re-loading, and unloading skills.
  3. Practice basic skills of firing a firearm, such as stance, grip, and trigger control
  4. Demonstrate safe cleaning and maintenance.
  5. Identify critical skills necessary for shooter safety including the development of performance. and accuracy.
  6. Recognize WI laws regarding storage, transportation, and self- defense
  7. Use the handgun safely and accurately while moving to cover
  8. Engage adversary targets from cover.
  9. Engage a moving target while shooting from cover.
  10. Utilize flashlight techniques.
  11. React to an attacker using an interactive video simulator
