10-462-103 COUPLINGS AND ALIGNMENT ...course compares different coupling types and examines common misalignment problems. Students will develop skills related to inspecting, troubleshooting and preparing couplings for removal and installation. (Corequisite: 10-462-110, Preventive Maintenance)

  1. Examine the operating characteristics of commonly used shaft coupling devices
  2. Examine the fundamental concepts of alignment
  3. Evaluate how improper anchoring can effect alignment
  4. Apply techniques for detecting and correcting soft foot
  5. Evaluate alignment techniques and their related accuracy
  6. Calculate machine movement for proper alignment
