10-307-187 ECE: CHILDREN WITH DIFFERING ABILITIES ...This 3-credit course focuses on the child with differing abilities in an inclusive early childhood education setting while examining strategies for cultivating partnerships with families and community supports for children from birth to 8 years of age.

  1. Integrate strategies that support diversity, equity and inclusion
  2. Promote inclusive programs for young children
  3. Analyze legal and ethical requirements including, but not limited to, ADA and IDEA
  4. Explain the process to refer and support children with differing abilities
  5. Analyze the abilities of children with physical, cognitive, health/medical, communication and/or behavioral/emotional disorders
  6. Analyze the abilities of children with neurodiversity
  7. Determine ways to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of children with developmental differences
  8. Identify strategies for cultivating partnerships with families who have children with developmental differences
