10-526-261 ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY CLINICAL 4... this assessment is designed to observe the sonographer in the active echocardiography lab, assess competencies learned throughout the echocardiography program journey, and coach the sonographer on opportunities for success. Students are routinely evaluated on professional growth, personal interactions, and technical ability. (Prerequisites: 10-526-274, Echocardiography Clinical 3)

What will I learn?

  1. Perform echocardiogram to evaluate disease of the aortic valve or aortic root with general independence.
  2. Perform echocardiogram to evaluate mitral valve pathology with general independence.
  3. Perform echocardiogram to evaluate right heart pathology with general independence. (ei. Tricuspid valve disease, pulmonary valve disease, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism, cor pulmonale).
  4. Perform echocardiogram to evaluate a prosthesis/repair with general independence.
  5. Perform echocardiogram to evaluate ischemic heart disease with general independence.
  6. Perform echocardiogram to evaluate patient with a cardiomyopathy with general independence. (ei. Dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic obstructive or non-obstructive cardiomyopathy, infiltrative/restrictive cardiomyopathy)
  7. Perform or review an echocardiogram to evaluate patient with pericardial disease with general independence. (ei. Pericardial effusion, pericarditis, constriction, s/p pericardial window)
  8. Perform use of a contrast enhancement agent during echocardiogram with general independence.
  9. Perform post scan echocardiographic images during a pharmacological stress echocardiogram with supervision.
  10. Perform post scan echocardiographic images during an exercise stress echocardiogram with assistance.
  11. Assist in performance of a Transesophageal echocardiogram with continuous guidance.
