Course Description
10-503-159 FIRE SCIENCE INTERNSHIP ...provides an opportunity for students to perform the duties of a municipal firefighter while serving the typical 24-hour shift, excluding NWTC class periods, at one of several fire departments. Fire department officers evaluate student performance. Department consent required.

- Identify fire department organizational structure and department staffing levels.
- Perform required duties in alignment with the department expectations and guidelines.
- Complete a minimum of 432 hours in the field working within a fire department.
- Follow safety procedures and department policies in the field.
- Complete fire station and fire apparatus cleaning, inspections and maintenance as assigned.
