47-503-480 FIRE MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES: HYBRID VEHICLES ...fire management principles and practices for unexpected challenges of alternative energy use vehicles and hazards that require new firefighting strategies and procedures.

What will I learn?

  1. Describe the core principles and best practice information for firefighters, fireground incident commanders, and other emergency first responders to assist in their decision making process at emergencies involving alternative fuel, electric drive and hybrid electric vehicles.
  2. List the variety of safety issues that hybrid vehicles may present involving fire and/or rescue emergency situations either on the roadway or at charging/dockingstations (e.g., garages).
  3. Describe the unique functioning of the following hybrid systems: Electric Drive Propulsion, Hydrogen, Compressed Natural Gas, and Propane
