47-462-415 INTRO TO BASIC MECHANICS ...basic mechanical and electrical components found in the paper mill environment. Topics include bearings, belt drives, gears, chain drives, conveyor chain, fasteners, hand tools, basic hydraulics, basic pneumatics, guarding, photo-eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, and safety.

What will I learn?

  1. Identify the grade of hex head bolt and nut as 5 or 8 by the use of markings.
  2. Explain the different operation modes for a photo-eye sensor when used in light or dark modes.
  3. Demonstrate the proper use of a torque wrench to properly torque a grade 8 fastener.
  4. Identify an air dump valve and the proper procedure to lock out the valve.
