Course Description

73-854-756 MATH SEMINAR 1B ... this course is designed for students who enter at NRS level 1 or 2. Learners will develop strong foundational math skills in preparation for GED® Mathematical Reasoning Test topics. Learners will develop number concepts, mathematical language, and whole number topics, including the operations. Learners will develop basic concepts of fractions, geometric shapes, and measurement. Learners use critical thinking to organize and analyze data and graphics.

What will I learn?

  1. Identify whole numbers and place value
  2. Interpret whole numbers and place values to 1,000
  3. Use place value concepts to calculate sum and difference
  4. Use whole number place value concepts to perform addition and subtraction
  5. Determine the unknown whole number in addition and subtraction equations
  6. Perform multiplcation and division using whole numbers
  7. Apply propertie of multiplication
  8. Develop the concept of fractions as numbers
  9. Determine the unknown whole number in an equation
  10. Analyze two and three-dimensional shapes
  11. Determine perimeter and area of geometric shapes
  12. Apply basic concepts of measurement and money
  13. Develop measurement concepts
  14. Organize information into graphs
  15. Create visual data
