Course Description

10-802-102 SPANISH 2 ...continuing language pronunciation, intermediate vocabulary/grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities--additional verb tenses: perfect, subjunctive, and conditional; awareness of additional Spanish-speaking populations. (Prerequisite: Prerequisite: 10-802-101 Spanish 1 )

What will I learn?

  1. Use language acquisition strategies to increase fluency.
  2. Use characters and symbols of written communication specific to target language to increase fluency.
  3. Use number and gender as appropriate in target language with regard to nouns and adjectives (singular/plural, masculine/feminine) to increase fluency.
  4. Use conjugation of regular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs in simple tenses ( present, present progressive, present perfect, imperfect, preterite) to increase fluency.
  5. Use appropriate verb ending for subject (declension) of -ar, -er, -ir verbs to increase fluency.
  6. Identify target language vocabulary relating to common activities of daily life including: health and well being, emotions, relationships, the arts, student life, work, travel, civics, and the outdoors.
  7. Conjugate regular -ar, er, and -ir verbs to express the simple tenses (present, present progressive, present perfect, imperfect, and preterite) to increase fluency.
  8. Conjugate the sixteen most common irregular verbs (caer, dar, decir, estar, hacer, ir, oir, poder, poner, querer, saber, ser, tener, traer, venir, and ver) in simple tenses (present, imperfect, preterite) to increase fluency.
  9. Conjugate regular and irregular -ar, -er, -ir verbs to express the future tense.
  10. Conjugate regular and irregular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs to express the conditional tense.
  11. Conjugate regular and irregular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs to express the subjunctive tense.
  12. Construct intermediate Spanish sentences.
  13. Engage in intermediate extemporaneous conversation in target language.
  14. Use intermediate grammar rules in the target language.
  15. Identify examples of and correct use of common idiomatic expressions in the target language.
